KOREAN WAR VETERANS MEMORIAL, DC

Yet again very close to the Lincoln Memorial, you’ll find the Korean War Memorial. On this day, so many Veterans had been flown in from around the country, and were honored during the many ceremonies.

The Korean War Memorial, or Korean War Veterans Memorial, is in Washington, D.C., honoring those who fought in the Korean War (1950-1953). Dedicated on July 27, 1995, it features 19 stainless steel statues of a patrol squad from various branches of the military, each about seven feet tall, arranged in a triangular formation. Surrounding them are reflective black granite walls engraved with soldiers' faces and significant phrases, inviting contemplation on the war's impact. Set in a landscaped area with trees and paths, the memorial serves as a tribute to veterans and a reminder of the human cost of conflict. It is part of the National Mall, which hosts other military memorials for remembrance and education.
