DURHAM & ANGEL OF THE NORTH
Day trip to the northern city of Durham. I believe my paternal grandmother came from this stunning town. The cathedral was remarkable.
On the way back, we stopped at the Angel of the North, an incredible steel sculpture 65ft tall, with a wingspan of 177ft, and weighs 208 tonnes. It truly is magnificent in real life!

The Angel of the North, a sculpture by Antony Gormley in Gateshead, England, was completed in 1998. Standing 20 meters tall with a wingspan of 54 meters, it is one of the UK's largest sculptures. Made of steel, it symbolizes hope and the connection between nature and human creation. Located on a hill overlooking the A1 road, it attracts thousands of visitors annually.
