ZIMMERWALD, Switzerland
A glorious hike with my sister and brother-in-law through Zimmerwald.
Unfortunately, it was a little overcast so we couldn’t see the Bernese Alps, but we still had fun. They do this hike a lot, and always stop at the same bench to have a little picnic, vanilla tea, bread, Moschtbroeckli, and cookies.
Zimmerwald is a small municipality in Bern, Switzerland, known for its scenic landscapes and serene environment. Surrounded by forests and rolling hills, it attracts nature enthusiasts and hikers. The town is historically significant for the 1915 Zimmerwald Conference, where socialist leaders discussed anti-war strategies during World War I. With traditional Swiss architecture and a peaceful lifestyle, Zimmerwald isn’t a major tourist hub but offers tranquility and natural beauty. It also provides access to outdoor activities while being close to Bern for urban culture and history.
