NIAGARA FALLS, NY
Our son went to school in Rochester for his undergrad studies, Film and Animation Major. One of my dearest friends from the time I was a birth photographer, lives in Rochester with her family. I hadn’t seen her in years, so when our son was getting ready to graduate, I contacted her to see if she’d be up for the car ride to Niagara Falls. We talked and talked the whole way, and had a most wonderful day!
Niagara Falls consists of three waterfalls on the Canada-US border: Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls. Horseshoe Falls, the largest, stands about 167 feet high and over 1,700 feet wide. American Falls is around 70 feet high and 1,060 feet wide, while Bridal Veil Falls is about 78 feet high. The falls attract millions annually, with water flowing from the Niagara River at around 168,000 cubic meters per minute during peak times. The area offers parks, observation points, boat tours, hiking, dining, and casinos. It has a rich history, with indigenous habitation predating European settlement and was crucial for hydroelectric power. At night, the falls are illuminated in vibrant colors, creating a spectacular visual experience.
